Sen and I were having brekky at our favourite pho shop when we were invited out for a coffee by some friends. That was fortunate because the brekky shop wasn't serving coffee this morning for some reason.
Sen's friends turned out to be a group of newspaper reporters who will be attending my English classes starting next week. These guys write for magazines and papers all across Viet Nam! They are the ideal contacts for the more difficult parts of the Monks and Mandarins project. Anyway, we all had a nice time and I made some more friends, all before morning tea. ..................................................................................................... Today is Buddha's birthday. Vung Tau celebrates this annual event with a float parade around and through the town. Here are some photos and a video of this morning's preparations prior to the parade. The artwork on the sides of the float are a stark reminder of the Indian influence in this part of the world.
Again, more religion in a country that we were told has no religion. |
